Hi! I am Amy Haymes Lane!
Lane Greenhouse is a passion project of mine. I have always loved gardening. Well.. I always have in my adult years. My mom loved all things plants and flowers, however I would say it wasn’t until I was older that I appreciated it. I have always had lots of plants and flowers and have always wanted a greenhouse.
My daughter got married in a greenhouse in 2020, and that only deepened that desire. We collected old windows for the greenhouse for years. We came across the big stained glass window located at the back of the greenhouse at our favorite vintage/thrift store in North Carolina and knew we had to have it, even if we did not know where it would go at the time. It is the perfect fit!
Who I Am
Construction of the Greenhouse began in December of 2023. We did not know when we started the construction that my mom would pass away not even a month later. The Greenhouse became a real place of refuge, a beacon of hope if you will. The construction, the planting, the garden - all gave and showed new life while I was also grieving the loss of life.
I have spent countless hours with my granddaughter, Elouise, at the greenhouse and I know we will continue to use it as a place of learning and tranquility. I am so thankful that so many people love the greenhouse, that so many people are able to use their creativity to create beautiful art in this space. It is an honor and joy to be able to share it with others.
